A FRESH Start
(A Future Realized through Education, Support and Healthcare) is a unique program designed for women and children from birth through 18 months of age. With a holistic, comprehensive, and integrated approach to care and treatment, this program focuses on the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV and maintaining the health of the mother and child during the most vulnerable period of life, thereby optimizing long-term health outcomes for mother and child alike.
The FRESH Start Program incorporates both a Well-Mother and Well-Child Program. The Well-Mother Program includes routine check-ups, antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and adherence support, pap smears, family planning services, breast feeding support and nutritional education. The Well-Child Program comprises the full schedule of immunizations, HIV testing according to the National Guidelines, and growth, nutritional and developmental monitoring. The program continues to provide essential healthcare services to mother and child dyads during this critical early childhood development phase.
Sponsor A Mother & Child
The Gift of Hope and Witkoppen also partner on an important initiative to Sponsor A Mother & Child for their annual HIV care. This program, effective January 1, 2017, is designed to ensure that the most vulnerable women and children do not drop out of care and risk defaulting on their HIV medication, due to their inability to afford care or transportation to the clinic.
For just $250 a year, your sponsorship will provide a holistic package of:
