Sibonginkosi’s Success Story

Sibonginkosi is a single mother of two who is residing in the Diepsloot Informal settlement. She is unemployed and bears the struggles of providing for her family. She tries by all means to survive and ensure that her children don’t go to bed on an empty stomach.

She started attending Witkoppen Clinic in January 2019 when she tested HIV positive. Unfortunately, her 3-year-old son Sebastian was born HIV positive, and was referred to the Dietician by the Pediatric Doctor due to being underweight and malnourished.  “Knowing that I have infected my children is a permanent scar” she said. It was a difficult journey filled with denial and depression for Sibonginkosi, but thanks to Witkoppen Clinic, life became easier and satisfactory.

Sibonginkosi has been enrolled in the food parcel program since she stated attending the Clinic in 2019. “I’m very grateful to the staff that made it possible for me and my family to receive food on monthly basis since I’ve been struggling so much financially”. She further stated that “I love Witkoppen Clinic because the staff treats me with respect and don’t discriminate against me. I simply cannot compare it to other Clinics I’ve attended before”.
